Director of Wellness

Job Summary

Manage all club fitness facilities, front desk personnel, and racquets programs. The Wellness Center Manager is responsible for providing a top-notch experience to all members and guests via hospitality, innovative programming, embracing all skill levels, timely communication, and organization.

Job Tasks / Duties

• Teach fitness classes and perform personal training, as needed.
• Selects, trains, supervises, schedules and evaluates staff in the Wellness Center.
• Oversees facilities and equipment to ensure safety, cleanliness, and good working order, including Locker Rooms, Lobby Area, Gym, Exercise Room, Pool Deck and Racquets Area.
• Ensures that all applicable daily reports are completed correctly and approves/reviews outgoing communications and contracts when necessary.
• Contributes articles for the club's newsletter and website.
• Assists in implementing club policies, goals, operating procedures and standards.
• Attends weekly management meetings to stay informed of changes affecting operations.
• Attends monthly Pool, Fitness, and Racquets Committee meetings, and conducts staff meetings.
• Develops a monthly and yearly calendar and plans programming. Pursues continuous development and education for him/herself and subordinates to enhance image, quality, and offerings of department.
• Collaborates with staff members to plan and develop programs, events, and activities,
• Prepares and monitors operating and capital budgets; takes corrective action as necessary to help assure that budget goals are attained.
• Completes appropriate assignments made by the General Manager and Assistant General Manager.
• Evaluates and makes recommendations on changes to meet member needs.
• Receives and handles complaints about the Wellness Center, Swimming Pool and Racquet Courts and apply feedback to service improvement efforts.
• Informs and follows through with Housekeeping and Facility Maintenance departments about problems or deficiencies as they arise; ensures that the Wellness Center areas are clean and functioning properly.
• Coordinates the purchase of departmental supplies and merchandise.
• Create and be innovative on developing new programs to bring about greater involvement in our programs for the pool, tennis, pickleball and fitness.
• Ensures the highest level of customer service and hospitality by overseeing or performing operational duties including racquets, pool, and fitness facilities being properly maintained; responding to e-mails, voice mail, answering phone; taking reservations; timely and accurate billing of services; keeping website information current and up to date; monitoring and maintaining online court booking system

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelors degree in Sports or Recreation Management or Sports Marketing preferred
• Minimum three years of private club experience or health and fitness management preferred
• Knowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situations

Job Knowledge

• Comprehensive knowledge of fitness and exercise principles.
• Proficient in large recreation operation for Swimming Pools, Racquet Sports, and Fitness Facilities.
• Possess ability to create a Profit and Loss Statement, track financials and create budgets.
• Familiarity of fitness facility operations and fitness design/implementation.
• Current on fitness, swimming pool, and racquets industry trends.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Knowledge of first aid, performing CPR, using an AED and blood-borne pathogens.
• Ability to learn ForeTees reservation system and Jonas Point of Sale
• Outgoing personality and ability to make all members and guests feel welcome.

Licenses and Special Requirements

• Certified in Adult and Child Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Certified External Defibrillator (AED)
• Knowledge of Basic First Aid
